Jean
Woods
applies a diverse
educational and professional background to her consulting engagements.
Her expertise includes extensive experience in competitor and technology
research, business strategy design and execution, regulatory issue
assessment, and sales channel development and management.
Jean is a founder
and principal of Insight Consulting, a marketing consultancy focused on
helping small businesses reach more customers and increase sales.
She focuses on helping clients analyze their business needs and the
business environment in order to improve marketing effectiveness.
Jean’s specialties include competitive analysis, business plans for new
businesses, and regulatory assessment.
Jean’s clients range
from an $11 billion multinational Tier 1 network provider, to a 7,000
member credit union, an economic development agency of the State of
Indiana, and a new business start-up. She delivered a white paper
assessing current healthcare issues and their implications for
telecommunications sales in the healthcare market for a national telecom
provider. Jean conducted primary research to provide assessments of
competitive local exchange providers, hospitals and healthcare providers,
and systems integrators for other clients. She currently focuses her
efforts on expanding Insight Consulting’s business plan service, which
focuses on developing business plans for entrepreneurs seeking start-up
funding, and existing businesses that want to expand.
Jean was Director of
Segment and Channel Marketing for a major telecom. In 2000, she
created and delivered successful marketing programs for the sale of ADSL
(Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) service through the Internet Service
Provider (ISP) channel, resulting in sales of more than 30,000 ADSL lines
in the first 8 months after product introduction. Overall revenue
generated for the channel increased more than 50% in that year.
Further, she spearheaded efforts to launch web-based ordering for the ISP
channel.
During her career,
Jean has analyzed regulatory issues, designed appropriate regulatory
responses, and written and delivered expert testimony in a variety of
telecommunications cases.
Jean earned an
M.B.A. degree from Indiana Wesleyan University, an M.L.S. (Master of
Library and Information Science) degree from Indiana University in
Indianapolis, and a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude) from Indiana University.
She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa National Scholastic Honorary.
Jean’s
professional affiliations include membership in the Greater Indianapolis
Chamber of Commerce, the ChamberAction Committee, and its ChamberAction
Board of Directors; Business Women Connect; Indiana Wesleyan University
Greater Indianapolis Advisory Council; and the Telephone Pioneers of
America.
